Spatika Lingam is a type of Lingam which is made up of Quartz. Spatika Lingam is called Sphatika Sivalingam. Sphatikam is a semi-precious gemstone. There are many vast varieties of Sphatikam. All the Hindu temples in South India use this Sphatikam for making Shiva Lingas. Sphatikam beads are made from translucent rose quartz. Some people say that these beads have healing power whereas some people wear Sphatikam Mala to keep their body cool.

Rameshwaram Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. This Temple is located in Rameshwaram Island. This was constructed during the Nayaka Period in the 16th Century. It was later taken over by Marathas. This Temple is associated with Lord Rama as it is said that he prayed to Lord Shiva here after killing Ravana and rescuing Goddess Seeta.

Temple is very famous for Spatika Linga darshan. In the first inner corridor, devotees offer worship to the white Sphatika Lingam. The Sri Chakra (Sethu Peetam) and the Sphatika Lingam were established by the Hindu monk Adi Sankara. Sphatika lingam darshan is offered to the pilgrims during early morning hours.
