It is located near to very world famous Brihadeeshwar Temple. It This Palace was constructed by Nayakas and later taken over by Marathas, hence sometimes it is also referred to as Maratha Palace Complex. This Palace is the official residence of the Bhonsle family and is also known as Aranmanai.
It has numerous sections like Royal Museum, Gallery, huge halls, wide corridors, multistoried towers, the Saraswati Mahal Library, and Shady Courtyards and all the sections are worth for spending time. Also there is an underground passage in the Palace.

Royal Palace is open all days of the year except the public holidays. You can visit here anytime of the year. December and May are apparently best time to visit.

Royal Palace stays open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and remains closed during lunch hours. Entrance Fee for Adult is Rs 2 and for Children is Rs. 1 per person.
