Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple is located in the island town of Rameshwaram which is connected to the mainland via Pamban Bridge. The Rameshwaram Temple is one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India and thousands of devotees come here to worship Lord Shiva.
And it is one of the four sacred Char Dhams in the country, the other three are Jagannath Temple which is in Puri (Orissa), Dwarkadheesh Temple which is in Dwarka (Gujarat) and the Badrinath temple in Badrinath (Uttarakhand). The temple is associated with Lord Rama because he came here to worship Lord Shiva, on their way back to Ayodhya, after his successful rescuing of Goddess Sita after killing demon Ravana.
The religious importance of the temple can be seen from the popular belief which says that the visit to pilgrimage Kashi is incomplete without visiting Rameshwaram Temple.
Since ancient time, devotees would walk and spend months and years on travel to visit Rameshwaram Temple along with Kashi. Different rulers built the Rameshwaram Temple, at different periods from the 12th century A.D. This temple has 22 theerthams, it is believed that bathing in it help us to get rid of sins of devotees.

In morning hours, it is open from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM. And in the evening hours, it is from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
