Kanyakumari is a district in the State TamilNadu. It is also called as the “God’s own district”. The name comes from the temple named Devi Kanya Kumari in the region, in Tamil it is pronounced as ‘Kan-niya-kumari’. Kanyakumari city is located in the southern tip of the Cardamom Hills, which is an extension of the Western Ghats range. Thiruvananthapuram is the city nearest to it located at a distance of around 85 km and nearest town is Nagarcoil.
