1- Visit Ganga ghats especially during morning and evening times.

2- Visit Baba Vishwanath temple and temple of city’s Kotwal baba Kalbhairav.

3- Visit Sarnath and Kabir birth place Lahartara .

4- Visit Banaras Hindu University, largest resident university of Asia and the new Vishwanth temple in campus.

5- Visit Sankat Mochan Temple which was established by Goswami Tulsidas and taste Motichoor laddo in temple.

6- Visit Dugra temple and Manas Mandir (zll the Ramcharitra Manas written on walls of temple)

7- Try Keshav Pan bhandar for the best pan and Pehalwan Lassi wala at Lanka.

8- Try Thandai both with and without bhaang,

9- Try snacks at Kachori gali and Kashi Chat bhandar

10 -Feel real Banaras in gallis near to ganga ghats. Roam around here. Walk the Gallis.

11- Buy Banarasi saree and other ethnic dresses.

12- Visit burning ghats ( Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats) and witness the final journey of body.

13 – Most important, Banaras needs some time to establish harmony between your soul and city so try to visit this city as many times as possible, every time you will get new flavor. May be first time you will hate Banaras.

Things to Don’t

  1. Please don’t try banned substances like drugs.
  2. Don’t believe the non registered guides. Generally city is safe and welcoming for outsiders but same as everywhere else, don’t do the stuff which opposes to common sense.
  3. Don’t just take a dip in river Ganga, take a Boat Ride.
  4. Don’t visit Temples during day.
  5. Do not mess with Bulls.
  6. Never say no to Kachauris in Varanasi.
