Bom Jesus Church Goa History

Bom Jesus is also known as Borea Jezuchi Baijilika. It is the most famous and well known Church of the Goa. It is located at a distance of around 10 km from Panaji in Old Goa. Bom Jesus holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier who was Goa’s patron saint. It was constructed in the 16th Century. It is dedicated to Infant Jesus. The Church is called “Bom Jesus”, which means Infant Jesus or Holy Jesus This church is more than 400 years old Monument.

It is known for its brilliant architecture and beautiful interior. It has white and golden interiors. People all around the world come here because of its religious associations. The main altar of the Church has a height of 54 feet and width of 30 feet while the front of the church is of length about 183 ft, breadth of about 55 ft and height of 61 feet.

It is advisable that you should not visit the Church when the Mass is not On.

On weekdays:-

  • Morning- 7:00 am (Konkani)
  • Morning- 8:00 am (Konkani)
  • Evening- 6:00 pm (Konkani)

On Saturday:-

  • Morning- 7:00 am (Konkani)
  • Morning- 8:00 am (Konkani)
  • Evening- 6:00 pm (Konkani)

On Sunday:-

  • Morning- 8:00 am (Konkani)
  • Morning- 9:15 am (Konkani)
  • Morning- 10:15 am (English)
  • Evening- 6:00 pm (Konkani)

Holy Hour:-

  • 5:00 pm (Konkani) It is Only on 1st Friday of the month, and then it is followed by mass.

Please note that the Timings may change on special days or any Festival.
