Boat Ride at River Ganga Varanasi Details

The best part of enjoying River Ganga is to take up a boat ride on the river. River Ganges runs through the city and there are a number of ghats that connect the river to the land. On each ghat, you will find numerous boats waiting to be hired. The Smaller ghats would obviously have a lesser number of boats than popular ones.

Enjoy rowing in the boat early in the morning in the Ganges is a wonderful experience for the travelers during their visit to Varanasi.  You can enjoy watching the early morning sunrise which is beautiful through the boat ride.     Boat rides are available from very early morning to Ganges Aarti that takes place by sunset. The boat rides will cost more during the sunrise and sunset.

  • Types of Boats

    You can hire a traditional rowing boat, which is controlled by a boatman. In one rowboat up to 6 people can travel. You would be charged around Rs 200 for a trip that would be for 90 to 120 minutes. Motorboat can carry more people. But a motorboat costs 1500 INR per trip.

    From July to August, the rainfall will be high and the current in the river will be stronger. So it will take three boatmen to ride a traditional row boat and the fare will be higher.

    • Ride during Ganga Aarti is the most famous among all.
    • Boat ride along Kashi is the next attraction. Kashi is located near Adi Keshav Ghat. It takes four hours to complete one ride.
    • The Ride to the palace on Banaras is an important tourist attraction. This includes a walking tour along the market and palace sightseeing. You can find many attractions on the path.

    Total duration for the ride would be 3 to 3.5 hours

    You can have the ride all days of the week, starting at dawn. Start time varies depending on weather, so check with us

    The Ride starts from Dasashwamedh Ghat, by the Ganga Seva Nidhi office and ends at Phool Mandi

    The cost of the Rides is Rs 2000 per person for 2 persons, Rs 1500 per person for 3-4 persons, Rs 1000 per person for 5-6 persons and Rs 800 per person for 7-8 person. The maximum group size could not more than 6-8 people. Payment is by cash on the day of the tour
