The Golden Temple in Amritsar opens door to millions of devotees from India and its far places, irrespective of caste, race, creed, community, and gender. The Golden temple is also known to be Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib. The name Harmandir means “temple of God”. It is the most important and remarkable Sikh temple, which is located in the city of Amritsar. Thousands of people visit the Golden Temple every year for Peace of mind.

There is a shimmering second level of the gurudwara covered in gold panels and a pure gold- made dome at the top, which attracts tourists the most. There is also a Sarovar. which has pure and sacred water. People who come to visit the Temple take a bath in the Sarovar.

It is one of the most visited places in the state of Punjab. Golden Temple in Amritsar is the most respected Sikh Gurudwara in India. It was founded by the fourth Guru Ram Das in the year 1577. People gather here every day to listen to hymns and pay respect to the Guru Granth Sahib Holy Scripture which is being read here.

  • The Temple is open all days of the week from 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • The morning ceremony (Palki Sawari) is around 4.30 am and the evening one (Samapti) is around 9.30 pm.
